Prevent algae before it becomes an issue

The addition of algicide is needed for proper pool maintenance. Sanitizers or shock/oxidizers alone may not keep algae at bay and this step is needed to keep your pool completely clear of any growth. This is the third part of the BioGuard 3-Step Pool Care System.

Do all algicides kill algae?

Not all algicides are alike, only algicides that have been approved by the EPA for killing algae actually perform. All BioGuard products have been thoroughly reviewed and proven effective. Various kinds of algae may require different treatments to ensure they are eliminated.

Can my pool water be sanitized without chlorine?

Yes, chlorine is not the only sanitizer that can be used to treat pool water. Biguanides are also effective sanitizers that kill bacteria while keeping the water soft. Biguanides don’t degrade with sunlight or temperature and don’t change pH levels like traditional chlorine sanitizers. This means adding less chemicals making it easier to use.

How important is pH really?

Spa Sanitizers to Clean Water

Killing bacteria is key to spa maintenance

In a spa, sanitizers are added to control the growth of bacteria and algae. The warm water environment of the spa is conducive to growth, making sanitization essential to having a clean spa that is suitable for bathers. Although the chemical reactions that occur to sanitize a spa are the same as in a pool, the reactions in a spa happen at a much faster rate. Chemicals become more reactive and tend to be used up more quickly than in a pool, requiring frequent chemical additions to maintain proper sanitizer residuals.
