Cloudy Water: Cloudy water is caused by suspended particles that are too small to see, often from environmental sources like bathers or source water. Poor water balance, low sanitizer levels, or inadequate filtration can worsen the condition. Fix: Test and balance the water, use pH Decreaser for high pH, Water Clarifier to remove particles, and Enhanced Shock or Spa Shock to oxidize contaminants. For equipment issues, clean the filter with Filter Cleaner. Prevent: Maintain water balance, clean the filter regularly, and oxidize water weekly to destroy contaminants.
Odors in Spa: Caused by organic contaminants like oils and sweat. Warm temperature and aeration make it worse.
Fix: Adjust water balance, use Water Freshener, and shock with Enhanced Shock or Spa Shock. Boost sanitizer with Brominating or Chlorinating Concentrate.
Prevent: Maintain sanitizer levels, shock regularly, and test water frequently.
Metal Stains in Spa: Caused by copper erosion from the heating system or high metal levels in source water. Results in greenish-blue water or stains.
Fix: Test water, use Stain & Scale Control to remove stains and tie up metals, and clean with Off The Wall® Surface Cleaner.
Prevent: Add Stain & Scale Control weekly to prevent metal buildup and staining.
Foaming in Spa: Caused by soap, oil, or organic contaminants. Foam may dissipate over time, but anti-foaming agents help clear it faster.
Fix: Apply Anti Foam, use Spa Shock or Enhanced Shock to oxidize contaminants, and add Water Clarifier to remove contaminants.
Prevent: Shock/oxidize regularly and add Water Clarifier to your weekly maintenance to reduce contaminants.
Scale Formation in Spa: Occurs when excess minerals, especially calcium, become insoluble due to high calcium hardness, temperature, or pH. This leads to rough deposits on surfaces and equipment.
Fix: Add Stain & Scale Control to remove scale, use Off The Wall® Surface Cleaner for quick cleaning, and adjust pH with pH Decreaser if needed.
Prevent: Add Stain & Scale Control to your weekly maintenance routine to reduce mineral buildup.
Eye and Skin Irritation in Spa: Caused by imbalanced spa parameters (especially pH) or a build-up of contaminants, leading to chloramines and irritation.
Fix:
Adjust pH: Test water and use pH Decreaser for high pH or pH Increaser for low pH.
Remove Contaminants: Add Enhanced Shock or Spa Shock and use Water Clarifier to improve filtration.
Waterline Build-Up in Spa: Greasy coating along the waterline is caused by oils and lotions from soakers, while rough patches may indicate scale due to water balance issues.
Fix:
Remove Build-Up: Use Natural Spa Enzyme to break down oils, lotions, and grease. Add Stain & Scale Control to remove scale, and use Off The Wall® Surface Cleaner to clean surfaces.
